How To Take Care Of Your Skin During Vacation

Being on vacation does not mean that you have to neglect your skin. See it as a good time to take extra care of your skin and to really do some effort with it.

Wash your face, morning and evening

Yes, even while you are on vacation, you still need to wash your face in the morning and in the evening

Morning – To remove your night cream from the night before as well as any dirt or sweat. Also a good ‘wake me up’ for the skin and to get it ready for the day’s task.

Evening – Before going to bed you need to wash your face to remove any dirt, grime, sweat and products from your skin. Your skin will be fresh and clean and ready for your night products and in this way, your skin can rejuvenate properly while you sleep.

Use your day and night creams

I always recommend having a separate day and night cream for your skin because they simply do different things. Your day cream is to hydrate and protect your skin. The night cream will help your skin during the repair and rejuvenating process which is very vital.

Drink more water

Water, in general, is amazing for your overall health including your skin. Your skin is the largest organ in the body and without water, it can not function properly. Water helps to cleanse your body from toxins which can lead to problems like acne and breakout skin. Water also hydrates your skin from the inside out. It’s great if you using all the expensive products but being dry from the inside will not help you much. Water can also help to reduce wrinkles because the more you stay hydrated the fewer wrinkles will show. So drink up!!

Use a scrub and mask

Using a scrub is beneficial in removing all those dead skin that is sitting on the top of your skin. Using a scrub 2x a week will not only remove the dead skin but also improve the skin circulation and gives you a more glowing complexion. When removing the dead skin your products like serums and moisturisers will penetrate so much better as there is nothing to block them. Scrubs are also great for blackheads, pigmentation, and scarring. Just make sure to use the right scrub for your skin type.

Try to use your mask right after you have used the scrub. Your skin is fresh, clean and soft and you will benefit so much more from your mask. Masks are a great add on to your skincare routine and can provide extra hydration, nutrition – depending on the mask that you use. You get different types of masks so make sure to get one accordingly to your skin type. You can also do DIY masks at home where you can use natural ingredients like honey, berries, yogurt and avocado.

Sleep 8 hours

Now is a great time to get your 8 hours of sleep in. Trust me, your skin will thank you. Getting enough sleep is very beneficial and gives your skin cells the right amount of time to repair and to rejuvenate – helping your skin to look more youthful and glowing when you wake up.

Eat more fruits and vegetables

Leave the junk food and increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. They are high in antioxidants that protect the skin from cellular damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals enter the skin by sunlight, pollution and smoke and then break down your collagen which leads to aging and can also cause dark spots and lots of other problems. Fruits and veggies can also help to hydrate your skin from the inside out.

Get more fresh air

Staying in the house is bad for your skin and health in general. Fresh air helps to open your skin pores, increase the oxygen levels and gives you a more youthful, fresh glow.

No make-up

Try not to use any makeup while at home. Makeup can cause blackheads and breakouts and contain chemicals. Let your skin rest and heal without that stress of makeup and you will really see a big difference in your skin.
